First Pro Win for Charley Hull

(Photo: @charleyhull1/Instagram)

The answer to the question, "When will Charley Hull get her first pro win?" is: Now! As in today, at the Lalla Meryem Cup on the Ladies European Tour. Charley, who is about to turn 18 years old, shot 62 in the final round to tie Gwladys Nocera, then won it on the first playoff hole. That's called getting it done.

Congratulations to Charley on what is sure to be the first of many, many wins. See the LET's tournament page for a recap, final scores and photos from the event.

Anna Rawson Now Chasing MBA

(Photo: @annarawson/Instagram)

What is former LPGA and LET golfer Anna Rawson up to these days? She's not hard to find. She's still modeling, and she stays connected to golf through appearances and as a presenter.

She's also in business school at Columbia University, pursuing an MBA. Adam Stanley tells the story for The Globe and Mail:

Anna Rawson is a sun-kissed Australian model who stands nearly six feet tall. She's also a professional golfer who played for several years on high-level circuits such as the Ladies European Tour (LET) and the U.S.-based LPGA Tour. And now, she's nearly completed her first year of an MBA program at Columbia University, an Ivy League school in New York.

How has she managed to do it all?

"Oh, I'm really nerdy," she explains. ...

Stanley's article explains the journey Anna took from Australia to the United States, from golfer to businesswoman. Rawson points out how helpful golf has been in opening doors to the business world:

"You start thinking about marketing and thinking about a business and building up yourself as a business [and] you realize they went really well together. I could be a model, and playing golf just added so much to my business and brand."

She also met several chief executive officers through corporate outings with Fortune 500 companies and became fascinated in what they were doing. She wanted to go down that path.

It was a path that led her to Columbia, and an MBA program ranked in the top five in the United States by the Financial Times.

Ms. Rawson admits that students who are concentrating in finance have a hard time believing the kinds of people - from portfolio managers to CEOs - with whom she's played golf. "They're shocked at the access that I got."

Melanie Collins of 'Big Break Florida'

Melanie Collins is the co-host of Big Break Florida, but who is she? She's a newcomer to the Golf Channel, but not to golf broadcasting.

On Collins' Twitter page, she intros herself this way: "Yahoo Sports Broadcaster, co-host of Big Break on Golf Channel, contributor to CSN California, NBCSN & The Insider on CBS."

One her website, we see a fuller picture of Collins' broadcasting history.

Collins' main gig currently is working for Yahoo! Sports, and in that role she reports from some of the highest-profile events in sports, including the Super Bowl. Previously, her website states, "... she covered the NBA for NBA-TV and Turner Sports, College Football and Basketball for the Big Ten Network and Total College Sports, as well as Major League Baseball for MLB.com. She's hosted segments on PGA.com, PGATour.com and Nascar.com."

Collins also works in entertainment reporting, including Yahoo's own OMG! Insider franchise. She's worked for E! News Now and reported from the red carpet in Hollywood.

And she describes herself as an avid golfer.

Paula Creamer

I guess you could say that 2014 has gotten off to a pretty good start for Paula Creamer. First, she got engaged. Then, she ended her 3 1/2 year winless streak.

Paula's victory at the 2014 HSBC Women's Champions was her first since the 2010 U.S. Women's Open. It feels strange even typing that - Creamer always seems to be on the leaderboard. It's not like she was playing poorly during that time period; she wasn't. Things just didn't break right.

But you know what finally did break right? A whopping 75-foot eagle putt that she sank to beat Azahara Munoz in a playoff in Singapore.

I bet Creamer's next victory won't be nearly as long coming.

Meghan Hardin One of AskMen.com's '99 Most Desirable'

Congratulations to our friend Meghan Hardin, whose "body of work," so to speak, has once again gotten her noticed well outside the realm of golf. The highly popular AskMen.com recently released its annual rankings of the "Top 99 Most Desirable Women" women. And Meghan makes the list at No. 83. That's one spot below Jen Stelter, one spot higher than Elizabeth Banks.

What does AskMen.com like about Meghan? Hey, what don't they like! Here's what they said:

Why is Meghan Hardin desirable?
It's not often that professional golfers crack the Top 99, but Meghan Hardin isn't your average golfer. The buxom blonde is not afraid to flaunt what she's got - witness her nearly nude, golf-themed photospread - but is also single-minded about achieving her athletic goals. "I am the future of golf," she proclaims on her website. We sure hope so.

Here are few images from Hardin's Instagram feed (follow her @meghanahardin):

Cheyenne Woods Joins the Winner's Circle

(Photo: @cheyenne_woods/Instagram)

Cheyenne Woods won a mini-tour tournament in 2013, but hadn't yet scored a win on one of the top women's tours. Until now! Cheyenne recorded Win No. 1 on an important tour in Australia at the 2014 Volvik RACV Ladies Masters. Woods won by two strokes over 17-year-old amateur Minjee Lee with a final score of 16-under 276.

She earned €37,500, obviously her biggest payday to date since turning pro for the start of 2013. In fact, that's more money than Cheyenne earned in all of her 11 LET starts in 2013, which was €24,000. Woods is a gamer, and she's a worker - that's clear to anyone who takes the time to look at her track record and notices that each time she moves up to a new level of competition, she takes a little adjustment time and then gets better. (The Constructivist and About.com Golf have both pointed this out numerous times.)

Congratulations to Cheyenne. She's not just a "name," she has game, I bet the third time will be the charm for her at LPGA Q-School later this year. Meantime, watch out for more success for her on the LET.

Mi Hyang Lee Nets Win in New Zealand

Congratulations to Mi Hyang Lee on winning the New Zealand Open, where Lee outran home favorite Lydia Ko to the finish line.

Mi Hyang shot a course-record 63 in the final round to beat Ko by one shot. Lee is a 20-year-old described as "bubbly" in this account of her victory. Her rookie year on the LPGA was 2012. (The New Zealand Open is a Ladies European Tour event.)

In 2013, Lee made 10 cuts in 17 starts on the LPGA (keep in mind she was only 19 when the 2013 season began). That included a round of 64 at the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic, her previous best tournament round as a pro. She also was seventh overall on the LPGA Tour in eagles last year.

Lee's win is being called, in some places, her first professional victory. But that is not the case: She won a Symetra Tour tournament in 2012, when she finished the Symetra season sixth on the money list.

Jessica Korda Wins in Bahamas

The LPGA's Bahama Mama of 2014 is Jessica Korda.

Korda won the 2014 Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic by one shot over Stacy Lewis, shooting 66 in the final round to secure the victory. That 66 included birdies on the last two holes, and three of the final four holes.

It's the second career win for Korda on the LPGA. Her first was at the 2012 Australian Women's Open. Korda went into the tournament ranked No. 40 in the Rolex Rankings, and after the win she moved up to 24th.

This could be a big year for Korda, who certainly has the talent to be one of the best on tour. Despite some injury issues in 2013, she still managed to finish 25th on the LPGA money list, 15th in scoring average, and earn a berth on the United States' Solheim Cup team.
