Elizabeth Stuart

elizabeth stuart pictures

Trivia question: Who was the first golfer to go through the "First Tee" youth program and later join a pro golf tour?
Answer: Elizabeth Stuart

Before hitting "Big Break: Kaanapali," Stuart had two years of Futures Tour experience under her belt, and she's playing the Futures in 2008. Stuart turned pro in 2006 after a collegiate career at Florida International. Her best finish to date on the Futures Tour is 13th.

Susan Choi

susan choi pictures

Susan Choi is one of the lesser-known and least experienced - at least in professional tournaments - cast members of "Big Break: Kaanapali." A New York native, Choi first played tournament golf when she went to college at Division III Wellesley in Massachussetts. She won more than a dozen tournaments while in college. She also won the Boston men's amateur championship in 2006 and 2007.

At the time of the "BBK" taping, Choi was still an amateur, but she has since turned pro. She has low status on the Futures Tour this year, but may get into a handful of Futures tournaments. She's been playing some Suncoast Series events up to this point in the season.

Christina Lecuyer

christina lecuyer pictures

We'll be posting about some of the "Big Break: Kaanapali" golfers over the coming weeks, leading up to the April 15 series debut on the Golf Channel. And starting with the ones we haven't posted about before.

Such as Christina Lecuyer. Christina is a native of Edmonton who played college golf at the University of Central Arkansas. Lecuyer made it to the finals of LPGA Q-School last year before her run ended. She's been playing the Cactus Tour early in 2008, and we should see her in some Futures Tour tournaments this year, too.

You can learn more by taking a look at her "Big Break" bio.

Happy Blogiversary

natalie gulbis bikini pics

Happy blogiversary? Yep, this month marks the 2-year anniversary of the launch of Golf Babes. And we celebrate by re-posting the very first photo we posted back on March 16, 2006. Natalie Gulbis, of course.

Over these two years, we've had far more visitors than we ever expected, and had the pleasure of meeting many great folks.

Thanks to everyone who has helped make Golf Babes a success.

And thanks especially to all the female professional golfers (and aspiring ones) out there who, through their commitment to the game and very hard work, help bring more women into golf and help bring more fans to women's golf. We hope that Golf Babes, in some tiny little way, helps bring more fans to women's golf, too.

May Wood

Unfortunately, the statuesque May Wood will be out of action for much of 2008. She underwent wrist surgery in January, with recovery estimated at 4-6 months. She's hoping to get in some late-season Futures Tour tournaments if health permits.

Henrietta Brockway

henrietta brockway pictures

Henrietta - or "Henni" - Brockway is an English teen golfer who recently turned professional. It was expected that she'd be a part of the GB&I Curtis Cup team this year, but apparently questions arose over her amateur status and so she went ahead and declared pro. Brockway is the 2007 British Girls Champion who started playing in Ladies European Tour tournaments when she was 16. She shouldn't have any trouble drawing sponsor exemptions, given her arresting look and the "glamour girl" image she's cultivated.

Morgan and Ivanka

morgan pressel ivanka trumpMorgan Pressel and The Donald's daughter Ivanka Trump joined forces at a media event last week. The event was to publicize the Gems set of club from Callaway, a new set aimed at beginning women golfers.

Said Morgan: "We're trying to encourage women to play the game. The biggest thing we need to do is to show and explain to women the benefits of playing golf. A lot of women are intimidated by the game and are hesitant to go out and try it. Once they do play golf, they keep going back for more." (source)

Kelly Rose Kronen

kelly rose kronenKelly Rose Kronen will be a rookie on the Futures Tour this year. Kelly was introduced to the game by her father, and at age 12 dedicated herself to it fully. She was a top player in high school - at one point ranked the No. 1 golfer in New England - and went on to Barry University in Miami. In her freshman year, her father was diagnosed with cancer, and after her sophomore year Kronen made the decision to leave school and go back home to be with Dad. Her father has undergone treatment and is doing well today, but Kelly decided that returning to school wasn't what she wanted to do. Instead, she turned pro. And 2008 will be her first season as professional. She can play a full schedule on the Futures Tour, but like many young female professionals, whether she actually does depends in large part on finding sponsors to help finance the travel and tournament expenses.

Brandi Jackson

brandi jackson pictures

Brandi Jackson, looking very elegant above, is the subject of a column in Golfweek this week. Check it out, it's a good read (HT: Waggle Room). Brandi finished seventh on the Futures Tour money list last year. If she improves by at least two spots in 2008 (and its a good bet she will), she'll be back back on the LPGA Tour next year.

Halle Berry = Golf Babe?

halle berry pictures

Wait - Halle Berry's a golf babe? Apparently so. On Oprah, Ms. Winfrey asked her about her "desire to be a world-class golfer." Halle downplayed the "world class" part, but did say that she would like to play with Tiger Woods. So there you go: all the excuse I need to find a Halle Berry pic.

(Please note: I did not just admit to watching Oprah! My wife told me about it. Yeah, that's the ticket.)

Cirbie Sheppard on the News

We'll be able to watch Cirbie Sheppard - a k a, the "Golf Vixen" - on "Big Break: Kaanapali" beginning in mid-April. But KOVR-TV - the CBS affiliate in Sacramento, Calif. - caught up with Cirbie on the course recently, and you can watch their interview with the rocker chick now:

One of my favorites, the so-cute-it-hurts Jee Young Lee. We just added her Web site to the sidebar, thanks to the indispensable Seoul Sisters.
